Biography

Alan Rubenstein received his bachelor’s degree and graduated cum laude from Queens College in 1994, with a B.A. in modern European History. He received a Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law 1998 and an LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law in 2001. Mr. Rubenstein is admitted to practice law in both New York and New Jersey.

Alan is a co-founding member of the law firm Horowitz and Rubenstein, LLC located in Garden City, New York. As a tax attorney, Alan specializes in providing a broad range of sophisticated tax, estate and succession planning to high net worth individuals, as well as business succession planning and sophisticated real estate, partnership and corporate planning. 

Additionally, Mr. Rubenstein has provided corporate guidance with respect to mergers and acquisitions as well as other sophisticated corporate transaction services. Mr. Rubenstein takes pride in utilizing an individual approach in developing and providing integrated tax and business strategies to assist each client’s needs. The Firm is a leader in the utilization of private placement life insurance and other creative proprietary tax and corporate structures to provide sophisticated income and estate tax minimization to a diverse range of clients.

Alan has more than 26 years of significant legal experience. Prior to forming Horowitz and Rubenstein, LLC, Mr. Rubenstein served as outside counsel to several hedge funds and private companies providing tax advice. Prior to that, Alan worked at Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP, Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP, Gibbons PC, and KPMG LLP, in the State and Local Tax group. While in college, Alan served as an intern with the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations where he worked to promote Israel’s interests at the United Nations and in the United States.

Alan is a member of the board of directors of Consulate Healthcare, a leading provider of senior healthcare services which operates over 100 facilities across five states. Additionally, Alan has recently been appointed as a member of the board of directors of Yeled V’Yalda, a not-for-profit organization which employes 4,000 professionals who provide early childcare services in New York State.

In addition to his commitment to his clients and continuing to build Horowitz and Rubenstein, LLC, Alan provides pro bono representation to clients in need and support charitable organizations serving both Jewish and humanitarian causes. Alan and his wife Ronna live in Woodmere, NY and are the proud parents of Michael, Jeremy, and Hailey.
